1. Do glass worktops scratch?
2. Do glass worktops break easily?
3. Why should I use glass splashbacks and worktops?
All work surfaces scratch and glass is no exception. Glass is a hard surface and does not scratch easily. However, unlike some other products the scratches can be removed by employing a professional scratch removal company.
No. Toughened glass can withstand the impact of a hammer unlike granite which would crack or break. There is a common misconception that glass is fragile but this is simply not true. A bank teller would feel more secure behind glass than they would behind a slab of granite. Some of our members offer an alternative to this so please check with them.
Glass is one of the most hygienic surfaces. It does not absorb liquids or bacteria, is not damaged by wine, vinegar, lemon juice, bleach and is resistant to almost any chemical used in the household. It will keep it's looks for years to come and may like granite, need a polish to remove some scratches after a number of years.
4. Why should I use a GSWA member?
The glass splashback and worktop industry is relatively new with many companies 'learning' on their clients. Newer companies are finding their way and making mistakes that can be costly for you and for them. Although you can never totally guarantee the smooth path of a project you can ensure that the company you deal with will do their best to give you a good service and product. Our approved members have to meet all the criteria shown on the page "How Do We Join". Please look at these and see what the members have to offer. Please note their service is not limited to what we list and may in times exceed your expectations. However, these are the minimum requirements.
5. What if I have a complaint?
Your first recourse must always be with the member. They will try their best to resolve your issue. However, if you cannot arrive at a satisfactory conclusion then you or the member may ask us to mediate. There may be a cost implication to the company or you as a client, or both if visits to the site are needed.
